New Delhi: Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Anil Chauhan has voiced concerns over the growing instability in Bangladesh, noting its implications for regional security. Speaking at a conference on Military Ammunition in Delhi, CDS Chauhan highlighted the broader security challenges faced by India.
"The unrest in Bangladesh is particularly worrying," CDS Chauhan said. "Along with the ongoing tensions on our borders, including the proxy war waged by Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir and recent escalations in the Pir Panjal Range, the situation in our neighborhood adds to our security concerns."
Chauhan emphasized that India faces two major security challenges: the persistent border dispute with China and the instability in surrounding regions. He underscored the need for India to enhance its self-reliance in defense capabilities, citing the necessity to reduce dependence on foreign imports amid a volatile global security environment.
"For a large nation like India, managing multiple security issues, it is crucial to minimize reliance on external sources for warfighting and sustenance," Chauhan added.
