The birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal, the first Prime Minister of our great country India, is celebrated as Children's Day. Pandit Nehru became the first Prime Minister of independent India after the slavery of the British. He was very fond of children. Pandit Nehru was made aware of the rights, care, and education of children and hence his birthday was chosen as Children's Day. He established various educational institutions like the Indian Institute of Technology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences and Indian Institute of Management.

The foundation of Children's Day was laid in 1925, after which it was recognized worldwide in 1953. The UN announced to celebrate 20 November as Children's Day, but it is celebrated on different days in other countries. In some countries, Children's Day is still celebrated on 20 November. Since 1950, Children's Day has been celebrated in many countries on Child Protection Day (1 June), which is known as World Children's Day.

We celebrate Children's Day on the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India. Apart from being an experienced freedom fighter and a prominent politician, he shared a very close relationship with the children of India. Children also loved him and called him uncle Nehru. He thought that children are the future of a nation and therefore they should be well nourished and educated. This is an idea for the children that we celebrate on Children's Day.
