Beijing - China has officially acknowledged for the first time that four of its soldiers were killed and one soldier injured in the Galwan Valley violence. China's Central Military Commission (CMC) on Friday awarded bravery medals to all these soldiers. However, India and international media agencies say 45 Chinese soldiers were killed in the Galwan violence.

Chinese state TV, CGTN, said all the army killed by the CMC on Friday have been awarded first class merit sites and honorary degrees. According to CGTN, Chen Hongjun, an army PLA killed while fighting Indian soldiers in the Galwan Valley, has been named the 'Hero of the Century' released by the Communist Party of China (CCP). There are a total of 29 Chinese citizens on the list who have made significant contributions in the last 100 years in the security of China's borders, the Korean War, the War with Japan, policing, health services, etc.

China's title of hero of the century to a soldier killed in the Galwan Valley can be gauged from the terrible battle between the armies of the two countries on the LAC adjoining eastern Ladakh on the night of June 15-16, 2020, although not a single bullet was fired during this period.
