Beijing: A report titled 'Glacier Ice Archives Nearly 15,000 Year Old Microbeed and Phase' appeared in the Journal Microbiome on July 20. A group of scientists claimed to have discovered 30 very ancient viruses frozen in two ice samples. Most of them were viruses that had never been spotted before, scientists have claimed. Scientists took samples of ice from the Tibetan plateau in 2015 that began to freeze at least 14,400 years ago.

Zhi-Ping Zhong, lead author and researcher at the Ohio State University Bard Polar and Climate Research Center, has made a statement. He said, "These glaciers are gradually formed and along with dust and gases, many viruses have also accumulated in this wharf. Glaciers in western China have not been thoroughly researched and our goal is to use this information to highlight the old environment. Viruses are part of the same environment."

The pre-print format of the research paper in this case was published in Biorxiv in January 2020 last year. At that time, Zhong said, "We install ultra-clean microbial and viral sampling processes and apply it to two ice cores of gulia ice cap to research them."
