China-India: The 14th round of Senior Highest Military Commander Level (SHMCL) discussions between India and China will be held on January 12 at 09:30 a.m IST on the Chinese side at the Chushul-Moldo meeting point. According to Indian Army sources, the Indian side is looking forward to a productive engagement to resolve the remaining points of contention.
To end the deadlock, New Delhi and Beijing have been holding talks along the Line of Actual Control in Eastern Ladakh. There have been 13 rounds of negotiations thus far.
Both sides are working to resolve the Hot Springs squabble that arose following China's assertiveness last year. Friction spots on the Pangong lake's borders and the Gogra heights have been rectified. Hot Springs, on the other hand, has to be handled, according to the sources.
India has also demanded that the DBO and CNN junction areas, which existed before to the April-May timeframe last year and are deemed legacy concerns, be resolved. In June, the 2020 Galwan conflict took place, with both sides suffering losses.
New Delhi has maintained a high degree of preparation to forestall any misadventure by hostile soldiers while striving to build peace in the region.
