China: Removes UC from its app store, know why

Beijing: The Chinese App Store has removed Alibaba Group's UC browser from mobile phones. In fact, UC Browser was heavily criticized for including medical aid of ineligible companies in the annual consumer show on Chinese state television. After which, by Tuesday evening, UC Browser was removed from the Android app stores operated by big Chinese phone makers Huawei, Xiaomi, and Vivo. However, the app was downloaded from the Apple Store.

Billionaire Jack Ma is facing difficulties after angering Chinese President Xi Jinping. China is showing strictly on its vast Internet sector with Alibaba's e-commerce empire. UC Browser has more than 400 million monthly active users worldwide. UC Browser was among several Chinese and foreign companies that were criticized on a number of issues at China Central Television's two-hour prime-time show on Monday night.

However, UC Browser had issued an apology after the show, saying it had launched an investigation and initiated measures to improve it. In response to the app stores' request to comment on the removal of UC, UC Browser said on Monday, "We will further strengthen the supervision mechanism of the platform and provide high-quality information service to users. We urge users to continue to trust us."
