Taipei: China's military conducted a 24-hour show of force against the island that included 39 aircraft and three ships, according to Taiwan's Defense Ministry.

The Communist Party's People's Liberation Army has been sending ships or planes to the island on an almost daily basis as part of China's military crackdown on the self-governing island of Taiwan, which Beijing claims as its territory.

According to Taiwan's Ministry of National Defense, 30 of the Chinese planes flew between 6 a.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Thursday over the middle of the Taiwan Strait, which used to be an informal border agreed to by both sides.

According to a flight pattern diagram provided by Taiwan, those planes flew southwest of the island, then horizontally to the southeast, before turning around. The aircraft included 21 J-16 fighter jets, 4 H-6 bombers and 2 early warning aircraft.

Taiwan claimed that it monitors Chinese activities using both its naval ships and land-based missile systems.

In response to US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan in August, China's military conducted significant military exercises. Beijing views the foreign delegations as a challenge to China's sovereignty claims and de facto recognition of the island's independence.
