BEIJING: Chinese armed forces have started naval exercises off the coast of Guangdong province. According to the Maritime Security Bureau of Guangdong Province, the exercise will take place on July 29 and 30.

The news comes amid rumors that US House Speaker Nancy will begin her Asian tour on Friday. The tour may or may not include a stop in Taiwan, which, to put it mildly, would not sit well with China.

Last day, US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping spoke on the phone. According to Politico, Xi rebuked Biden for what the Chinese side perceived as a US violation of the Three Communications, which "excludes" US relations with Taiwan.

Beijing also included a warning about US actions regarding Taiwan in its readout of the phone call. However, a senior US administration official claimed Xi was used to warn about the dangers of "playing with fire" and described the discussion about Taiwan as "direct and honest".

Politico also claims that after their phone call this week, Xi and Biden may now be thinking about meeting in person.
A senior administration official reportedly told Politico, "negotiations were ongoing between the teams about a one-on-one meeting," and "there was a very clear positive agenda that was put forward and agreed upon by the leaders." Went." There was teams to work toward.
