BIHAR: Chirag Paswan, the two-time MP from Bihar and chief of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), made a significant political comeback on Tuesday as he took charge as Minister of Food Processing Industries. At 42 years old, he has solidified his position as the true political heir of his late father Ram Vilas Paswan. Paswan expressed his dedication to unlocking the vast potential of the food processing sector.
"There is immense potential in the food processing sector, and we will formulate a 100-day plan in consultation with ministry officials," Paswan said, highlighting the sector's crucial role in directly benefiting farmers.
He stressed the importance of expanding processing units across the country, especially in regions dependent on agriculture. Recognizing India's underperformance in food processing, Paswan pledged to make concerted efforts to elevate the sector to new heights.
"The effectiveness of the ministry depends on its leadership. I have been entrusted with a significant responsibility that affects millions of farmers. I have always advocated for processing units in Hajipur, which will enhance farmers' incomes," he explained.
Paswan assumed office after a brief religious ceremony, attended by his mother and other family members. His party's recent success in the Lok Sabha elections, where it secured all five allocated seats in the NDA alliance, has propelled him to the status of a new Dalit icon in Bihar politics, overshadowing many seasoned politicians.
His induction into the Narendra Modi government is seen as a remarkable comeback in Bihar's dynamic political landscape.
