Mani Ratnam, the ace filmmaker of the film industry, who is also known for churning blockbuster content like Nayakan, Guru, Roja, Bombay, Dil Se, Guru, OK Kanmani and many more, is now planning his next, which is titled Ponniyin Selvan. And it is said that the bigwigs of Indian cinema have been roped in for this project. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiyaan Vikram, Keerthy Suresh, Karthi, and many other stars have apparently been roped in for this upcoming project.

Earlier a source close to the film told India Today, “Karthi, Vikram and Jayam Ravi have been finalized to play the leads. Karthi and Jayam Ravi will start shooting for their portions from the first week of December while Vikram will complete a couple of films before joining the sets of Ponniyin Selvan. The other cast and crew will be finalized in coming months and an official announcement will be made.” Ponniyin Selvan is said to be filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s dream project and it is also said that it would be his assistant director Dhanasekaran who’ll be directing this magnum opus. The film is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's historical novel and will narrate the story of Arulmozhivarman, who later became the great Raja Raja Chola.
