The month of February is the month of love, gifts, and Romance. We all are excited for Valentine's Day, which is celebrated by lovers everywhere. Every year, Valentine's Week comes before Valentine's Day, which is on February 14. The week of love begins with Rose Day followed by Propose Day, Chocolate Day, Teddy Day, Promise Day, Hug Day, Kiss Day, and ending with Valentine's day.
Chocolate Day is celebrated on the third day of Valentine's Week. It is one of the most popular days of the week. It is celebrated every year on 9th February. Love is incomplete without sweetness and for sweetness the best gift to give is Chocolate. To add sweetness to the relationship, Chocolate Day is celebrated. At present time Chocolate is considered as Dessert or sweet but due know many years ago chocolate was spicy.
The history of chocolate is 4000 years old. A cocoa tree is used to make chocolate. The cocoa tree is found in America. But now 70 percent of cocoa is produced in Africa only. Chocolate was introduced by the people of Mexico and Central America. Additionally, in 1528, when Spain annexed Mexico, and when the king returned to Spain, he took with his cocoa and chocolate-making equipment. The people liked chocolate very much in some and it became very famous in a short period.
However the taste of chocolate is not sweet as chocolate is made of cocoa powder, which is bitter in taste. The reason behind is that the American people used to grind cocoa seeds to make it and add some spices and chillies to it, due to which its taste became spicy. Subsequently, cocoa powder was added to sweeten, after which the taste of chocolate became popular. Therefore earlier the taste of chocolate was not sweet but bitter.
