Los Angeles: After the success of his epic biopic Oppenheimer, renowned filmmaker Christopher Nolan is preparing for his next project. Hollywood stars Zendaya and Anne Hathaway have joined the cast of Nolan’s upcoming film, set to be released by Universal. They will join previously announced actors Tom Holland and Matt Damon.
Nolan, who is writing and directing the movie, has scheduled the film for a theatrical and IMAX release on July 17, 2026. While plot details remain under wraps, the casting news has generated excitement. Universal declined to comment on the new additions to the cast.
For Hathaway, this marks a reunion with Nolan, who previously worked with her on the 2014 space epic Interstellar and the third film in his Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises. Earlier this year, Hathaway expressed her gratitude toward Nolan for casting her in Interstellar, despite a wave of online backlash following her Oscar win for Les Misérables.
“A lot of people wouldn’t give me roles because they were so concerned about how toxic my identity had become online,” Hathaway said. “I had an angel in Christopher Nolan, who did not care about that and gave me one of the most beautiful roles I’ve had in one of the best films that I’ve been a part of … And my career did not lose momentum the way it could have if he hadn’t backed me.”
Hathaway has a busy lineup ahead, including Paper Tiger directed by James Gray, alongside Adam Driver and Jeremy Strong, Flowervale Street by David Robert Mitchell, Mother Mary opposite Michaela Coel, and Disney’s long-awaited Princess Diaries 3.
Zendaya, who appeared in two of the biggest films of the year, Challengers and Dune: Part Two, will soon star in The Drama with Robert Pattinson. She and Tom Holland, her real-life partner, have previously collaborated on the Spider-Man films.
