Former footballer Franco Fortunato said that synonymous with versatility, Chunni Goswami will always remain the 'Golden Boy' of Indian football. Former international footballer and first-class cricketer Goswami died on Thursday. He was the captain of the gold medal winning team at the 1962 Asian Games. Franco was part of this team. In his column for the All India Football Federation, he recalled how Goswami saved fellow PK Banerjee from Syed Abdul Rahim during the 1962 Asian Games.

He wrote, 'Rahim-saab was upset with PK's performance in the first half of the match. PK looked a little sick. He also turned upside down in the dressing room in half time. Rahim Saab was very upset. The coach said angrily, "I have 18 players in my team and if you were not well, then you should have told me." I did not expect this from you.

The entire team was shocked to see the coach so angry. But Chuni handled the matter. He went to PK and consoled her. He said Rahim Saab, he is our important player. But today his health is not good.
