The debate on the impact of digital streaming or OTT platforms on the future of cinema halls is something that everyone is having ever since the onset of the pandemic and people warming up to the idea of watching films in the confines of their homes. A lot of the stars from the film industry believe that cinema viewing in the theatres is a part of our culture and will never cease to exist. One such who shared these thoughts is Challenging Star Darshan Thoogudeepa.
He had spoken to us recently on the future of cinema halls and this is what he had to say...
A small screen will always remain a small screen. I'll explain this best with a recent instance of mine. I had met Rockline Venkatesh's son Yethiraj, who hadn't expressed a very positive feedback about the Roberrt trailer. I was particularly curious as I am more interested in finding out what made someone dislike something, as it can be beneficial to learn and correct. A couple of days after he had expressed the same displeasure, he happened to meet me again and we were watching the film on the big screen. He said he was awestruck. That's when he said how he watched the same on his mobile and was underwhelmed. This is where the difference is. If we watch on the big screen, the film has our undivided attention and we are involved. Cinema halls will remain forever as one can best enjoy films there.
