New Delhi: The Modi government of the Center passed many small and big bills from Parliament. It also includes an important bill abolishing Article 370. Now the government wants to pass another important political bill from Parliament as soon as possible. The Central Government has started its preparations to get the Citizenship Amendment Bill passed in this session. The government plans to introduce the bill in Parliament, probably in the second week of the winter session starting on November 18.

Preparations have already been started to overcome the shortage of strength in the Rajya Sabha in the path of this bill. As soon as the assembly elections in Haryana and Maharashtra are over, the party will be in direct contact with the TRS, BJD and YSR Congress other than the NDA. The BJP has become entangled in the northeastern states as soon as the National Population Register in Assam is completed. Due to the large number of Hindus being out of the purview of the NCR, there is no option but to make this bill legal before the government.

The bill provides for granting Indian citizenship on nominal terms to people belonging to Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, Jain, religious minorities from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. The government has not been able to make this bill legal till now due to lack of necessary strength in Rajya Sabha. According to a senior minister in the government, if the TRS, BJD and YSR (total 15 members) join together, the majority of the obstruction in the upper house can be removed.

These parties have no major objection to the bill. In such a situation, it has been decided that after the assembly elections are over, they should contact the leaders of these parties and persuade them to support the bill. The angry allies JDU, AGP, BPF, NPF and SDF should also be celebrated.
