This famous singer refused to do the show, says, 'My Assam is burning'

Protests are taking place in different parts of the country over the citizenship amendment bill. Especially its effect is being seen in the northeastern states. Internet and SMS services have been suspended after violent protests in Assam and Meghalaya. Its fire has now started reaching Bollywood stars as well. In protest, the famous singer Papon, who has sung many popular songs, has given his show in Delhi. Papon tweeted, 'Dear Delhi. I am very sorry but I have decided not to do the concert tomorrow at ‘imperfectoshor’ as planned! My home state Assam is burning, crying and under curfew! I won’t be able to entertain you the way I should in my present state of mind! '


In another tweet, Papon further wrote,I know this is unfair on you as you had bought tickets and planned long ahead. I am sure the organizers will take care of that in someway and as promised I’ll see you all on another day in future! I hope you will understand! 

For information, let us tell you that many organizations and politicians have criticized the Citizenship Amendment Bill. At the same time, about 700 celebrities including film artists, writers, educators and former judges have written to the government and appealed to withdraw this bill.

According to a media reporter, Javed Akhtar, Naseeruddin Shah, Nandita Das, Aparna Sen, historian Romila Thapar, writer Amitav Ghosh, Anand Patwardhan, social activist Yogendra Yadav, Teesta Setalvad, Harsh Mander, Aruna Rai, Many prominent personalities including Bejwad Wilson, former Delhi High Court judge AP Shah and the country's first CIC Wajahat Habibullah A letter written dissenting Citizenship Amendment Bill.
