Kinnaur: In Himachal Pradesh, an atmosphere of great devastation has been witnessed in the Kinnaur district due to a cloudburst late on Monday evening. Shalakhar village under Pooh Block has suffered heavy losses. Several vehicles have also come under the debris. The administration arrived on Tuesday morning to assess the damage. Thankfully, there has been no loss of life and property in this catastrophe.

It is also being said that 4 irrigation wells of the Jal Shakti Department have been damaged due to a cloudburst in Shalakhar village. Vehicles parked at the bus stop were also flooded. Shalakhar Panchayat has been divided into two parts. In which people in the upper and lower villages were making their living separately. When the flood occurred, people left their homes and fled to safer places. There are 30 houses in the low-lying village along the national highway, which have been damaged due to water and debris and one house has been completely buried.

There was also a paramilitary camp in this lower village. Along with the people of the village, all of them have shifted to the above village. In this entire incident, 2 labourers have also suffered minor injuries. Due to cloudburst, the water in 5 drains of the lower village is in spate. Panchayat head Suman has said that now people have been shifted to the above village. She herself has shifted to a safe place with the family in the upstairs village. She said that a lot of houses and gardens has been damaged due to the cloudburst.
