New Delhi: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday demanded from govt to buy Pfizer vaccine to vaccinate children at the earliest. He made the demand at a time when the US pharmaceutical company had earlier demanded permission for its vaccines in India at the earliest.
Sources had said that the US company has informed the Indian authorities that its vaccine is suitable for people in the age group of 12 years and above and can be stored for up to one month at two to eight degrees. Kejriwal has tweeted that we should buy the vaccine for our children at the earliest, citing a news item about the company's approval soon. Kejriwal has been urging the Central government to explore suitable alternatives to the vaccine, citing experts' apprehension that the third wave of corona virus will affect children in the coming months.
The Delhi government also suggested to the Centre that if it decides to conduct the Class XII board examination, students and teachers should be vaccinated. Pfizer had recently held discussions with government of India officials. It has offered to pay 50 million doses of vaccines between July and October.
