Kolkata: The investigation into the death of BJP MLA Debendra Nath Ray from Hemtabad assembly seat in West Bengal was handed over to the CID. CM Mamata Banerjee has issued the order for CID investigation. BJP alleged that Debendra Nath Ray has been murdered and his body was hanged. BJP has accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of being behind the murder.

BJP President JP Nadda said that the suspected murder of MLA Debendra Nath Ray from Hemtabad is extremely shocking. This proves the failure of Gunda Raj and law and order in the Mamata government. People will not forgive such a government in future. We strongly condemn this. Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that "I strongly condemn the brutal killing of MLA Debendra Nath Ray from Hemtabad. The law and order situation in West Bengal is getting worse day by day. I want to ask Mamata Didi, is this Bengal of your dreams? Didi, you have failed the state."

BJP general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya has tweeted how democracy is crushed. West Bengal's Mamata government is a living example of this. Political differences are being violently suppressed."
