Mamata Banerjee appeals to PM Modi to postpone university exams

Kolkata: In view of the increasing cases of coronavirus in the country, once again, the matter of examinations is in the discussion. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has reiterated her stand on not conducting exams for students amid Coronavirus crisis. Mamata Banerjee has written to the Modi government, appealing to postpone the examinations. Mamata Banerjee has written in the letter that the Supreme Court should give a decision on this matter as soon as possible so that the future of the children will not have to suffer.

It is worth noting that earlier West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee tweeted on Monday that, "In the last video conference with Honorable PM Narendra Modi, she was against the UGC guidelines, which till the end of September 2020 in universities and colleges was made mandatory to complete the terminal examinations, which had a huge potential to endanger the lives of students.''

Mamata wrote "Ministry of Education is going to conduct NEET, JEE 2020 examination in September. I would again urge the Center to assess the danger and postpone these examinations until the situation is again favourable. It is our duty to ensure a safe environment for all our students."
