Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh's Shivraj Singh Chouhan government has announced the inclusion of recognized journalists of the state in the category of front-line workers on the demand of press associations. Thereafter, the state will now provide the same facilities to the preferred journalists and their families who are now victims of corona infection as front-line workers. CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan tweeted this.

A large number of media persons, journalists are being caught by the coronavirus during the corona epidemic and many of them have lost their lives. In view of this situation, there was a demand from several journalist organizations to declare journalists as front-line workers. State Congress unit president and former CM Kamal Nath had also written to CM Shivraj in this regard. Following the demand of the same journalists and media organizations, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan has declared the accredited journalists as front-line workers. Giving details of the government's decision, CM Chauhan wrote on social media: "Our journalist friends are living their religion by risking their lives during the dangerous period of covid. We have decided to declare all the accredited journalists in Madhya Pradesh as frontline workers. They will be taken care of and they will be fully concerned.''

The Youth Journalists Association, an organization of young journalists from the same state, has written to CM Shivraj requesting him to include unrecognized journalists in the category of front-line workers. The Youth Journalists Association has written in its letter that only 40 percent of journalists are recognized in the State, the remaining 60 percent are non-preferential, including press photographers and video cameramen, to take appointment proof from their institutions and include them in the front line workers.
