CM Siddaramaiah Faces Backlash After Farmers Petitions Found in Trash Heap

Bangalore: Local farmers and citizens have expressed outrage after discovering that memorandums and petitions submitted to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah were discarded in a garbage heap. The letters, which were handed to the Chief Minister during his visit to Chamarajanagar on July 10, were meant to address various demands and issues faced by the community. Instead, they were found among the waste at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Stadium, leading to accusations of negligence and disrespect.

During his visit, CM Siddaramaiah attended a Congress thanksgiving meeting where farmers and victims of the oxygen disaster presented their petitions. These documents were intended to be reviewed and acted upon by the Chief Minister’s office. However, they were discovered discarded in a trash pile at the stadium the next morning.

The discovery has incited fierce reactions from farmers’ organizations, who are demanding an immediate apology from CM Siddaramaiah. They have warned that if their demands are not met, they will stage protests involving black flag demonstrations during his future visits to the district.

“Why accept our petitions only to throw them away? Such disregard is unacceptable,” one frustrated farmer remarked. “If this is how petitions submitted directly to the Chief Minister are treated, what hope do we have for those given to lower officials?”

The farmers’ discontent is compounded by their sense of betrayal. They had hoped for the Chief Minister’s intervention to address critical issues affecting them. At the thanksgiving ceremony held at Ambedkar Stadium, meant to celebrate MP Sunil Bose’s election to Parliament, the farmers detailed their struggles in their petitions. The subsequent discovery of these documents in the trash has only heightened their frustration.

A farmer leader warned that CM Siddaramaiah will face continued opposition in Chamarajanagar unless he issues an apology. “We will not allow him to visit Chamarajanagar, and if he does come, we will show him black flags,” he declared.

This incident has overshadowed the Chief Minister’s visit, highlighting a troubling disconnect between political promises and the realities faced by local farmers and citizens. The farmers’ call for accountability and respect underscores a broader demand for responsible governance and genuine attention to their grievances.
