Bengaluru: Karnataka CM B.S. Yediyurappa has urged people to follow the statewide lockdown imposed to prevent the spread of corona virus infection. In Karnataka, strict lockdown has been imposed for 14 days from Monday to check the ever increasing cases of corona.

CM Yediyurappa tweeted that 'Strict restrictions are being imposed for 14 days from today to break the chain of spread of corona infection. I urge all citizens of the State to follow the lockdown rules and guidelines. Your cooperation is very important to prevent the spread of virus infections. Together, we can defeat this epidemic'.

Barricades have been put up by the police and strict action is being taken against those who leave the house for no legitimate reason. Meanwhile, some people alleged that people who had gone to buy medicines and essential commodities were also beaten up by the police. Former CM H D Kumaraswamy attacked the government over the police action saying the government feels that the spread of corona can be stopping only by preventing movement of people.
