Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath on Thursday announced the Diwali bonus for 14.82 lakh employees of the state government. There was a lot of scepticism about the announcement of bonuses this year due to the worsening economy of the state due to the coronavirus epidemic, but the Yogi government has decided to give bonuses to employees.
This decision of the state government will incur an additional burden of Rs 1023 crore on the state exchequer. The Diwali bonus will cover all non-gazetted state employees, including government-aided educational institutions, local bodies and district panchayats as well as daily wage earners. Like last year, 75% of the bonus amount will be deposited in the provident fund account of the employees and 25% will be given cash in the employees. Employees who do not have PF accounts will be provided with National Savings Certificates equal to this amount.
Employees who have retired on March 31, 2020, or are due to retire on April 30 next year will be given cash in full for the Diwali bonus. Bonus for daily salaried people will be calculated on the basis of the maximum monthly salary of Rs 1200.
