Lucknow: Eight policemen were killed and seven other policemen were injured in an encounter with miscreants in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The injured are undergoing treatment at Regency Hospital in Kanpur, out of which four are in critical condition. Late Thursday night, the police team went to Bikeru village in Chaubepur to nab the notorious historyheater Vikas Dubey. As police arrived, Vikas Dubey and his men opened fire on the police team.

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath is furious after this incident. CM Yogi said that the sacrifice of the martyred policemen will not go in vain. CM Yogi tweeted through his official Twitter handle that he wrote a heartfelt tribute to the eight policemen who sacrificed their lives on the 'duty path' in Kanpur district. At the same time, CM Yogi has summoned DGP Hitesh Chandra Awasthi. CM Yogi has ordered strict action against the culprits of the Kanpur encounter.
