UP: District Home Guards Commandant sacked for taking bribe

Bulandshahr: Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, taking a strict stand against corrupt officers, has ordered the suspension of Mukesh Kumar, District Home Guards Commandant of Bulandshahar, guilty of corruption in accordance with the policy of zero tolerance. Mukesh is currently suspended from duty.

In November, three videos of Mukesh went viral on social media. In the video, Mukesh was seen keeping a few rupees in his pocket for various duties of Home Guard volunteers. It was clearly visible in the video clip that the District Commandant was taking bribe. The government promptly got it investigated in view of the seriousness of the case. Initial investigation was conducted at the level of Deputy Commandant General Homeguard, Agra, on the basis of whose report, legal action was initiated by suspending the accused Mukesh Kumar. Vivek Kumar Singh, Deputy Commandant General, Central Training Institute Lucknow appointed as the investigating officer for a detailed investigation. In this investigation too, all the allegations against District Commandant Mukesh were found to be true.

However, the accused Mukesh had described himself as innocent, describing the video as lewd. The video was tested at the Forensic Science Laboratory, Lucknow, where no tampering was confirmed in the three video clips. Now CM Yogi Adityanath has ordered the suspended district commandant to be dismissed from service.
