Considering the growing impact of the Coronavirus, COAI has written to the telecom department asking OTT companies like Amazon Prime, YouTube, Hotstar, Woot and Netflix to show videos in standard definition (SD) quality instead of HD and FullHD. In addition, COAI has written in its letter that in this difficult situation, video streaming companies should show videos in SD quality, which will lead to less data consumption. There may not be any pressure on the network infrastructure. Earlier Netflix and YouTube had taken such a step in Europe.
