Coal India's subsidiary, South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), headquartered in Chhattisgarh, has introduced a meaningful corporate social responsibility (CSR) venture named 'SECL ke Sushrut' with the aim of empowering economically disadvantaged students. This initiative, launched on Tuesday, is designed to offer valuable assistance to Class 12 students.

The primary focus of 'SECL ke Sushrut' is to extend free residential coaching for the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) to Class 12 students who find themselves in challenging financial circumstances. This endeavor particularly targets young individuals hailing from remote villages situated within the coal-rich regions of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. These aspiring students possess dreams of becoming medical professionals, but their aspirations are hampered by the inability to afford high-quality medical coaching.

Through a rigorous selection process that mirrors the NEET examination, 'SECL ke Sushrut' will identify deserving students who will then receive comprehensive coaching and mentorship. A collaboration has been established with a private coaching institute located in Bilaspur to ensure the effective implementation of this endeavor.

The registration process will be conducted online until September 6th, with the selection test slated for September 10th. Eligibility criteria dictate that students should have successfully cleared their Class 12 exams in 2023 with a minimum score of 60%. Moreover, applicants must be residents of either Madhya Pradesh or Chhattisgarh and reside or attend school within a 25-kilometer radius of SECL establishments in districts such as Korba, Raigarh, Koriya, Surguja, Surajpur, Balrampur, Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur (Chhattisgarh), and Umaria, Annuppur, and Shahdol (Madhya Pradesh).

Furthermore, the annual gross income of the applicant's parents or guardians should not exceed ₹8,00,000. The initiative also adheres to the coal ministry's policy, which reserves 14% of seats for SC students, 23% for ST students, and 13% for OBC students.
