New Delhi: A few days before the budget session of Parliament begins, the Rajya Sabha Secretariat has imposed a code of conduct for MPs of the Upper House. The directive to issue the code of conduct was given by the Speaker of the Upper House M Venkaiah Naidu. It said the Ethics Committee of the House had given its fourth report on the code of conduct on March 14, 2005. It was approved on April 20, 2005.

The committee, in its first report, considered the code of conduct for MPs, which was also given the green signal by the council. Regarding the conduct of the proceedings and business of the House, it has been said that the members should accept the responsibility of maintaining the trust of the people and work diligently for the good of the people. The Code of Conduct says, "The Constitution, the law, parliamentary institutions and above all, the common people should be respected.

It has been said that MPs should make constant efforts to turn the ideals set out in the Preamble of the Constitution into reality. According to the rules, members should not do anything that defames Parliament and affects their credibility. At the same time, members should use their position as a Member of Parliament to further the well-being of the people."
