Indore: The Supreme Court has granted interim bail to Munawar Farooqui in the case of alleged objectionable comments about Hindu deities. After getting bail, Munawar Farooqui has been released from Indore's central jail in the early hours of Sunday. Recently, the Deputy Superintendent of Indore Central Jail said, 'Comedian Munawar Farooqui was released after midnight.' He was in judicial custody for the last 35 days. As soon as he was released from the Central Jail in Indore, Munawar was seen escaping from the media.

On being confronted there, he said in response to media questions, 'he has full faith in the judicial system'. There are also reports that Munawar has left for Mumbai only after getting bail. It was earlier reported, 'The Central Jail Administration had expressed inability to release Farooqui, citing a production warrant issued by a Prayagraj court'.

A complaint was filed in Indore on the night of 1 January. In that complaint, Munawar was accused of hurting religious sentiments. He is a comedian from Gujarat and now he has been granted interim bail by the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has also issued a notice to the Madhya Pradesh Police. Munawar Farooqui's lawyers completed the bail formalities by submitting an order of the Supreme Court on Saturday in the district court of Indore. The local court ordered Farooqui to be released from the central jail on bail of Rs 50,000 and a surety of the same amount.
