The state government on Wednesday decided to constitute a high-level committee to undertake a comprehensive study of arogyasri health insurance scheme and come up with recommendations aimed at introducing reforms in the insurance scheme.

While talking about the scheme, Health Minister Ethala Rajapakse said at a review meeting of the insurance scheme that the committee would focus on introducing long-term reforms to improve health services to the poor within arogyasri. There is a need to plug existing loopholes and the whip should be broken on private hospitals that increase medical bills under this scheme. Srirangam stressed that the Arogyasri Health Insurance Scheme centre is a much better option than the Ayushman Bharat Insurance Scheme, the committee also studied the policies of the state government and the cost of other health services.

However, he said that he had also decided to allow private hospitals that were ready to sign an agreement with ahealthsri healthcare trust. We allow hospitals to enroll in the Arogyasri scheme, which will ensure that quality healthcare services are available to patients only after they have inspected themselves.
