Opposition again raises the issue of tampering with EVM, Election Commission said - no chance

New Delhi: The Election Commission has rejected the use of ballot paper in the assembly elections to be held in Haryana and Jharkhand along with Maharashtra. With this, the Election Commission said that ballot papers have now become 'history'. The EC defended EVMs and said that these machines cannot tamper in any way. for your information, Congress and NCP have expressed objection to the use of electronic voting machines (EVMs) in elections.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sunil Arora said after reviewing the election preparations in the states that the limit of election expenses of the candidates in the assembly elections cannot be changed at the moment. It is noteworthy that parties like Shiv Sena and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) had demanded to increase the electoral spending limit from the current Rs 28 lakh per candidate.

The Election Commission said that more Central Armed Forces will be deployed in the areas affected by Left Wing Extremism in Maharashtra in the upcoming assembly elections. Sunil Arora has said that "Parties have been raising the EVM issue. We have told them politely and firmly that ballot papers are now history and I can tell you that these machines cannot be tampered with. ''
