Former minister and senior party leader Govindas Konthoujam appointed as the president of its Manipur Congress unit. Congress president Sonia Gandhi has appointed Konthoujam as the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president with immediate effect.
This information shared in party statement issued by general secretary KC Venugopal on Monday. The party appreciates the contribution of outgoing PCC president Okendro. In July, Gandhi had approved new office-bearers of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee which included 15 vice presidents and an equal number of general secretaries.

Congress spokesperson in Manipur also extends his wishes to Konthoujam. He took to Twitter and wrote, "I congratulate Shri Govindas Konthoujam, senior Congress MLA & former Cabinet Minister of Manipur, on being appointed as the new President of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee by Hon'ble Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi ji today. "
