The party said that the government exported several muns more expensive masks and ventilators than the correct rate, that too by March 19. Chief Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala has termed it a criminal conspiracy. He tweeted, Prime Minister, this is an innocent crime and conspiracy. In addition, the WHO was saying, '1. Ventilators, 2. Surgical masks/face masks, 3. Storage of masks / gown making items. You were allowing their export till 19 March (at 10 times the price) whereas it was not available even to AIIMS. He asked the government a question about it.

Surjewala asked when the country is facing a shortage of such items then why was it allowed. The party also shared the notification issued by the Director-General of Foreign Trade on 19 March. Congress alleged that the government closed it on 19 March only when positive cases started to rise from COVID-19. Congress on Sunday demanded that personal protective equipment (PPE) such as N95 masks, gloves, face covers, goggles, head covers, rubber shoes, and disposable gowns be made available to health workers to prevent coronavirus infection.

Surjewala said that we are proud of the doctors, nurses and support staff. Special financial incentives should be given to those who risk their lives in the fight against the Coronavirus epidemic. The government should announce it immediately. While he had said that there are only 30,000 ventilators available for a population of 130 crores, he said that it should be arranged in sufficient numbers for coronavirus patients. He said that about 95% of the ventilators are already in use for patients suffering from other diseases.
