Congress gives ticket to Akbari Begum in UP polls, son Suleiman opens fire on police

Lucknow: Akbari Begum, the mother of Suleiman from Bijnor, who was accused of shooting a policeman in the 2019 anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) riots, was named by the Congress party as its candidate for the UP assembly elections. Suleiman's life was lost by a bullet fired by the police in self-defence. However, akbari begum's pamphlet has been rejected after checking the papers. The reason behind the rejection of nomination is said to be the absence of signature of the state president on the papers. Akbari Begum's son Shuaib has given information about this. Akbari Begum was given ticket by the Congress from Bijnor Sadar.  

After which, Akbari Begum also started campaigning from house to house. Suleiman was accused of firing at a bijnor police constable. According to media reports, Akbari Begum hails from Nahtaur area of Bijnor. According to Akbari Begum, her son Suleiman was 21 years old at the time of his death. According to Akbari Begum, her son was living in Delhi and preparing for ias. Suleiman from Delhi had reached Nahtaur on December 15, 2019. According to Suleiman's brother Shuaib, the incident took place on December 20, 2019. On this day, his brother had gone to Nahtaur to offer the Jumei prayers. There was another man named Anas with him.

Both of them were killed in the riot. On December 24, 2019, four days after the incident, Congress national general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had visited Suleiman's house. At that time, Priyanka Gandhi had targeted the Yogi government. He also announced all possible help to Suleiman's family.
