Congress high command gives major blow to Channi and Sidhu

Chandigarh: Important committees have been announced by the Congress party in view of the Punjab Assembly. The Congress high command has not accommodated state Congress presidents Navjot Singh Sidhu and Charanjeet Singh Channi in the election related committees. However, the Congress party has entrusted major responsibilities to senior leaders like Sunil Jakhar, Ambika Soni and Prakash Bajwa in these committees.

Charanjeet Singh Channi and Navjot Singh Sidhu have been placed in the screening committee only. The screening committee will however be headed by former Union minister and Congress leader Ajay Maken. According to reports, Charanjeet Singh Channi and Navjot Singh Sidhu have been kept away from important committees by the high command due to mutual dispute. A statement was issued on behalf of the Congress party saying that Sunil Jakhar will take over the reins of the election campaign committee. Ambika Soni has been made the head of the coordination committee while Pratap Singh Bajwa has been elected as the chairman of the manifesto committee.

However, after the announcement of these committees, Sunil Jakhar has once again appeared to be making a strong comeback in the Punjab Congress. Sunil Jakhar did not get the punjab chief minister's chair due to opposition from Navjot Singh Sidhu. Not only that, Navjot Singh Sidhu has been attacking Sunil Jakhar in the last few days. It is being said that Navjot Singh Sidhu and Charanjeet Singh Channi will not be able to interfere much in ticket sharing. The Congress party is planning to cut at least 20 of its existing MLA MLA tickets.
