Bollywood icon Sridevi died due to cardiac arrest at a Dubai hotel on Saturday night. Her sudden death has left legions of her fans in utter shock. Many celebrities and political leaders took to Twitter to pay their rich tributes to the diva. However, the tribute tweet by Congress left Twitter fuming. In a stinging attack, many told the party not to politicise the death of the legend. In a tweet, which has been deleted now, the Congress said, ‘We regret to hear about the passing away of Sridevi. An actor par excellence. A legend who will continue to live in our hearts through her stellar body of work.  Our deepest condolences to her loved ones. She was awarded the Padma Shri by the UPA Govt in 2013.’

  

Veteran Bollywood actor and Padma Shri awardee Sridevi, who had an illustrious career spanning over four decades, passed away. She was 54. Sridevi, died late in the night reportedly due to cardiac arrest in Dubai, where she had gone along with her family to attend her nephew Mohit Marwah's wedding.

Legendary actress Sridevi breathed her last on Saturday at around midnight in Dubai due to cardiac arrest. News of her untimely death has come across as a rude shock; fans, well-wishers and industry colleagues are extremely saddened by the news of her passing away. Sridevi, who began her acting career as a child artiste in 1969 devotional Tamil film Thunaivan made her debut in Hindi cinema with Lakshmi starrer Julie in 1975 but it was Solva Sawan in 1979, a remake of 16 Vayathinile (1977) that marked her first Hindi film as the lead actress.
