Last rites of Ahmed Patel done in his ancestral village

New Delhi: Among thousands of fans, the body of the senior Congress and the party's troubleshooter Ahmed Patel was handed over with Coronavirus guidelines to his ancestral village in Bharuch district of Gujarat. Several top national leaders of the party were present at his funeral, including former Congress president Rahul Gandhi.

It is noteworthy that Patel's last rites were performed at the Sunni Vohra Muslim Jamaat cemetery in the ancestral village Pirman. According to his wish, he was buried near the graves of his parents. Ahmed died on Wednesday morning due to complications following the corona infection. He was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram from where his body was taken to Vadodara and from there to the hospital in Ankleshwar where the corpse was kept till Thursday morning. After taking his body they moved for 10 minutes to reach the cemetery.

After the last prayers for the deceased, Ahmed Patel's body was buried by his family, relatives and friends, most of whom were wearing PPE. Thousands of people were trying to come to the cemetery to pay last respects to their beloved leader, whom the police controlled using light force under the Covid-19 guidelines.
