New Delhi: Triple Talaq bill was passed even after the government did not have a majority in the Upper House. The success of the Central Government in the Rajya Sabha exposed the weak opposition. The opposition has now accused the government of fraudulently passing the triple talaq bill. On Wednesday, Leader of the Opposition in the Upper House Ghulam Nabi Azad held press talks with other leaders. He alleged that the opposition did not know anything about the introduction of the bill and the government suddenly introduced the bill in the Rajya Sabha.

Congress veteran Ghulam Nabi Azad has said that the government knew our stand on the triple talaq bill and there was a consensus in the opposition. But the government introduced three divorce bills without informing us, which is why we could not inform our MPs. Azad said that after the government put the bill on the business list, we found out that three divorce bills were going to be introduced.

He said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had issued a whip to its MPs, while the opposition did not know anything. The Congress leader said that the opposition parties came to know about it in the morning which benefited the BJP but Parliament does not act like this.
