Lucknow: Congress leader Imran Masood with the controversial image may switch to Samajwadi Party (SP) before the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's mission UP may get a big setback if Congress's former MLA and party's national secretary does this. According to the report, Masood has publicly said that, 'If the BJP is to be defeated in UP, then it has to come with the SP. Only SP can challenge BJP in UP.

Imran Masood, while talking to the media, said he will discuss the matter with the activists on Monday (January 10, 2022). He will then join the Samajwadi Party. Imran is considered to be the speciality of former Congress president Rahul Gandhi, but after his meeting with Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow, it is almost certain that he is going to contest the assembly elections on a cycle symbol. Imran Masood's statement threatening to "tear Narendra Modi to pieces" before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections had created a lot of uproars. Even then, Congress made him part of The Upo's election committee in the 2019 general elections.''

Not only that, Imran Masood was also slammed by Muslim organisations and maulanas after a video of him dancing with his wife at a function went viral on social media. The Maulanas had said that it was against Islam to do so. In this video, some women were dancing to the song 'Ude Jab Jab Jab Zulfen Teri', including Imran's wife.
