New Delhi: Opposition leaders in India on Wednesday expressed concern over billionaire Gautam Adani's anti-takeover bid for media group New Delhi Television (NDTV). Gautam Adani has offered to buy another 26 per cent controlling stake after the indirect acquisition of a 29.18 stake in media giant NDTV. 

Congress veteran Jairam Ramesh has said that PM Modi's 'special friend' has made an anti-takeover bid of the renowned TV news network, in an apparent reference to Gautam Adani, who has a decades-long relationship with PM Narendra Modi. He tweeted, 'A shameful move to control and suppress any form of an independent media.' Vishwapradhan Commercial Private Limited (VCPL) company, through which Adani Media Ventures Limited (AMVL), the media arm under group flagship Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL), converted NDTV's debt into equity. Its earlier rival was linked to billionaire Mukesh Ambani.
