Ranchi: The Enforcement Directorate has raided several locations in Ranchi in connection with the illegal mining scam in Jharkhand. According to the news received from the sources, the locations raided are linked to a person named Prem Prakash. It is being told that Prem Prakash has strong relations with politicians.

According to sources, the central agency has raided several locations after questioning CM Hemant Soren's MLA representative Pankaj Mishra in connection with the illegal mining and extortion case here. Search operations are going on at about 17 locations in Jharkhand and Bihar. On July 8, the Enforcement Directorate carried out searches at 19 locations linked to Pankaj Mishra and his associates at Sahebganj, Barhet, Rajmahal and Mirza Chowki. Since then, the Enforcement Directorate had called him to join the investigation, but he did not turn up twice citing ill health as the reason. Subsequently, the Enforcement Directorate arrested Mishra on July 19 in a money laundering case.

The Enforcement Directorate said the proceeds of crime arising out of illegal mining of Rs 100 crore have also been traced and work is on. Earlier in the month of May, the federal agency conducted searches under PMLA at 36 places related to the MGNREGA scam after which Rs 19.76 crore in cash was recovered. It also included the premises of IAS Pooja Singhal and her associates.
