New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday flagged off 97 new electric buses. With this, a total of 250 electric buses have now joined the DTC fleet in Delhi. All these buses are equipped with modern technologies. On this occasion, State Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot said that this is a befitting reply to those who used to say that DTC is going to be closed.

He said that CM Kejriwal's vision that Delhi has to make the electric vehicle captain of the country has started now. More than 60,000 electric vehicles are now being operated in Delhi. Along with this, Gehlot also said that the Delhi government has ordered 1500 electric buses. These buses will start running on Delhi roads by the end of 2023. Delhi will soon have 1800 electric buses. CM Kejriwal said in his address that till now 153 electric buses used to run in Delhi and today 97 more buses are coming on the roads and 50 buses will come by September.

He said that, by the end of September, 300 buses will start plying on the roads of Delhi. He said that by the end of 2023, Delhi will have 1,800 electric buses. Arvind Kejriwal said that 6,380 more electric buses will be introduced by the end of 2025. He said that by the end of 2025, 80 percent of the buses will be electric. He said that electrification of bus depots is also being done on a war footing.
