New Delhi: Senior Congress leader and lawyer by profession Kapil Sibal has said that no state can refuse to implement the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Sibal said that, "If CAA has passed, no state can say -" I will not implement it ". This is not possible and is unconstitutional. You can oppose this law, you can pass a resolution in the Assembly and ask the Central Government to withdraw it. ''
After this statement, Sibal tweeted that, "I believe CAA is unconstitutional. The legislative assembly of each state has the constitutional right to pass a resolution and demand its withdrawal. "Further, Sibal has written that if the apex court declares the law constitutional, then it can be difficult to oppose it . Earlier, Congress leader Sibal said on the third day of the Kerala Literature Festival that, "Constitutionally, it is to say that I will not implement the citizenship law, it will create more difficulties".
Let us tell you that the governments of states like Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal and Maharashtra have raised their voice against CAA. Proposals against CAA have also been passed in the assemblies of Kerala and Punjab. Apart from this, the Kerala government had also moved the top court against CAA earlier this week.
