Lucknow: Many leaders, including former Congress MP Ramakant Yadav and BLC MLC Athar Khan, have joined the Samajwadi Party (SP) on Sunday. All have been given SP membership in the presence of party chief Akhilesh Yadav. There has been speculation for Ramakant Yadav to go to SP for a long time. Due to this, Congress had recently thrown him out of the party.
Ramakant Yadav, who has the image of Bahubali leader in the politics of Purvanchal, has also lived in SP before this. After being out of the SP in 2004, he had said at that time that his dead body would not go to the SP, but today after 15 years, he has again returned to the SP. Ramakant Yadav has been a number of MPs and MLAs from Azamgarh. From there he was elected as an Independent MLA for the first time in 1985.
He then became an MLA in 1989 with a BJP ticket. He then joined the SP and won the 1991 and 1993 assembly elections as a candidate of the same party. Ramakant was elected as an MP from Azamgarh in the years 1996 and 1999 on the SP's ticket. After this, he reached the Lok Sabha by winning elections on the BSP ticket in 2004 and again on SP ticket.
