Kochi: Congress leader V D Satishan attacked Govt on the rising fuel prices every day, including a 35 paise per litre hike in petrol price in Kerala. VD Satishan  asked the Central government not to "harass" citizens in this manner. He said the decline in global crude oil prices is not benefiting people due to the continuous increase in additional excise duty (Tax) on petroleum by the Central Government.

"Consumers here are not getting the benefit of the fall in global crude oil prices due to continuous increase in additional excise duty on petroleum by the Central Government," he said while talking to a Malayalam news channel. Satishan further said, "The Central government should stop harassing people in this way." Satishan also requested the Kerala government to help citizens by providing fuel subsidy (Subsidy).

According to reports, petrol prices in the state have crossed the Rs 100 per litre mark after the petrol price hike by 35 paise. He said the tax levied on fuel by state governments also increases on the basis of increase in excise duty. Petrol and diesel prices are on fire all over the country. Both petrol and diesel fuels continue to be hit by inflation.
