Senior Congress leader HK Patil has written a letter to Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy expressing his disapproval at the budget presented to the Congress-JDS coalition government. In this, they demanded programs for the minority community and northern region of the state. Patil has also written a letter to the former chief minister and Congress-JDS coordination committee chairman S Siddaramaiah to convene an emergency meeting of the committee so that this serious issue could be resolved.

They even wrote about loan forgiveness of farmers in a letter to Kumaraswamy. Appreciating the things being done in the past, the former minister suggested that some more programs should be announced for the 'Minority community' responsible for the victory of secular parties in the state assembly elections of 2018. Patil has appealed to the Chief Minister to announce some more programs while answering the discussion on the budget.

He also said that the people of Northern Karnataka had very high expectations from the budget, the people of that time thought that the government would announce special programs for constructing infrastructure in the new schemes announced by the previous government. Patil said that in the budget, no new scheme has been mentioned for this area, which has resulted in disappointing people of northern Karnataka and their feelings have been hurt.
