New Delhi: The Congress party is likely to fight the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi all alone, ditching the Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

A congress lead told IANS that after failing to seal the pre-poll pact with the AAP, the Congress has finalised the list of probable candidates for all seven parliamentary seats in Delhi for the ongoing general elections, news agency IANS quoted a party leader as saying. The party is likely to declare candidates on all seven parliamentary seats on April 21.

As per the list, Congress may field Ajay Maken from New Delhi Lok Sabha constituency, while Sheila Diskhit could be nominated from Chandani Chowk. Wrestler Sushil Kumar is likely to contest from West Delhi, Ramesh Kumar from South Delhi, JP Agarwal from North East Delhi and Rajkumar Chauhan from North West Delhi, IANS quoted the Congress leader as saying.

The grand old party and AAP were stuck in a stalemate even after months of talks and negotiations over the pre-poll alliance. The two parties also blamed each other for not reaching a consensus over the tie-up.

Earlier today, the AAP accused the Congress of backtracking on the poll pact. Senior party leader and AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said that the AAP agreed to the seat-sharing arrangements proposed by the Congress but the grand old party backtracked.
