Ranchi: The special CBI court in Ranchi has cracked down on the veteran Congress leader of Jharkhand in connection with the disproportionate assets case. The CBI court has sentenced former cabinet minister Bandhu Tirkey to three years of rigorous imprisonment. A fine of Rs 3 lakh has also been imposed on the Jharkhand leader. Bandhu Tirkey had deposited Rs 6,28,698 during 2005-2009 while he was a minister in the Jharkhand government. In this case, the court announced the sentence today.
After the CBI court's decision, the Congress leader's problems have increased a lot. Bandhu Tirkey has been convicted of amassing disproportionate assets of Rs 6 lakh during his tenure as a Jharkhand minister. On August 11, 2010, the CBI had registered an FIR against the Congress leader after the case came up in the Jharkhand High Court. On January 16, 2019, congress leader Bandhu Tirkey was charged in court. Today, the court sentenced him to three years of rigorous imprisonment. After this decision of the court, his MLAship is also believed to be over. Bandhu Tirkey is currently an MLA of the Congress.
