Mumbai: Maharashtra and Haryana have shown results for the assembly elections. While the BJP-Shiv Sena has won with a majority in Maharashtra, no party in Haryana is in a position to form a government on its own. All political parties are engaged in manipulation of government formation. However, the Congress has convened an important meeting today after the results of the assembly elections. The crucial meeting of the high level group of the Congress will begin at 10.30 am at Janpath.
21 members of the recently formed Congress think tank group will participate in the meeting. Former Haryana CM and senior Congress leader Bhupendra Singh Hooda will meet the party's interim President Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi today. On Thursday, when there was a narrow gap in the BJP-Congress seats, Sonia Gandhi gave The Huda a free hand to form the government and also talked to other parties about it. However, now that the BJP is only 6 seats away from the majority, efforts are on to form a government on its part.
In Haryana, efforts are on to form a government on behalf of the BJP after the picture of a hung assembly emerged. Congress is keeping an eye on this political activity and the party will not open its cards for the time being. However, Bhupendra Singh Hooda has reached Delhi. He is likely to meet senior party leaders Ahmed Patel and Ghulam Nabi Azad on Friday morning.
